Necessary Disclaimer:
Though - to quickly clarify - I'm most assuredly not damning my own truly great nation as such a pit of the Devil, nor for that matter alluding to the increasing suspicion around the world that Trump's own nation seems to be rapidly hurtling under his watch in that particular trajectory, but to the man himself (having such *unChristlike qualities)...
As far as NZ Inc constituting a "hellhole", and that (in two other short news-segments in various press conferences etcetera) having recently experienced a "surge" or the like in our Covid-19 situation...
...again, for those pitiful enough to deign to even dignify such remarks by any sort of response whatsoever, anyone with any insight can only say 'Your envy is clearly showing, Mr President."
Though - as per usual - such offhand/'throwaway' (quite literally) comments and 'observations' are a proverbial country mile or thousand as far from the real facts as could almost be possible, why the heck wouldn't they be, and why the heck wouldn't America's present Pontificator-in-Chief be [envious of NZ Inc in general and its popular leader in particular]?
Jacinda Ardern has of course - indeed post-March 15th, 2019 and the Christchurch Mosques' Massacre - been quite literally feted from pillar to post by all and sundry, including and especially by such high-profile and long-respected magazines and newspapers as Time Magazine and the New York Times (including in headline articles and cover stories). But especially since New Zealand's significant - but no, certainly not unique - success in dealing to the coronavirus...
...though claims, including especially by Ardern and her political colleagues here, that the disease has been either eliminated or eradicated have indeed been proven over recent weeks patently untrue.
Yet to even attempt to somehow make some sort of comparative disparagement of New Zealand, with its 22 deaths (all many months ago now) thus far (and, all told, 1500-odd cases of covid-19 from the get-go to today), with the present (and previous) situation throughout much if not all of the U S is so laughable as to be pathetic in the extreme...
but it sure is providing more than adequate cartoon possibilities and comedy fodder for kiwis...
*Again, to be perfectly measured as well as charitable.
